외식경영전문가이자 더본코리아 대표인 백종원의 신작, “백종원의 우리술”에 2023년 9월부터 11월까지 표지와 내지 일러스트를 진행했습니다. 백종원 대표는 전국의 양조장을 찾아다니며 우리술에 대한 깊이 있는 연구를 진행했고, 저는 저자가 전하고자 하는 이야기를 그림으로 풀어내는 데 집중했습니다.
책의 표지와 내지에 들어간 일러스트는 술의 종류와 특징, 그리고 술을 빚는 과정처럼 설명하기 어려운 부분을 시각적으로 쉽게 전달하는 데 중점을 두었습니다. 독자들이 우리술의 매력을 더 가깝게 느낄 수 있도록, 간결하면서도 감각적인 일러스트로 작업을 완성했습니다. 이 책은 2023년 12월, 중앙일보와 한국일보에서 주요일간지 소개 도서로 선정되며 그 가치를 인정받았습니다.
I worked on both the cover and body text illustrations for the new book by Baek Jong-won, a renowned culinary expert and CEO of The Born Korea, from September to November 2023. Baek Jong-won conducted in-depth research on traditional Korean liqueur by visiting distilleries across the country, and my focus was to visually interpret the stories he wanted to convey.
The illustrations in the book help make the more challenging aspects, such as the different types of liquor, their characteristics, and the brewing process, easier to understand visually. I aimed to create simple yet stylish illustrations that would allow readers to better appreciate the unique appeal of traditional Korean liquors. This book was recognized as a featured recommendation in major newspapers like JoongAng Ilbo and Korea Daily in December 2023.
